Through Sounds is a newsletter for the sonically curious.
Featuring interviews, recommendations and reflections, it is built around conversations with artists, musicians, scientists and sonic practitioners who are listening to the world in new and interesting ways.
Whether understanding political processes underpinning climate change, tracing interconnections between ecosystems, or uncovering the links between music and the environment, Through Sounds is an ongoing exploration of the world in sound.
About me
I’m Anton Spice, a writer and researcher interested in how sound mediates the relationship between humans and the environment.
A music journalist and editor by trade, I have spent the last few years learning what it means to listen beyond music. From noise pollution to bioacoustics, fields recording to data sonification, I have become fascinated by how sound connects people, place, industries and ecologies.
Through Sounds is a continuation of that journey.
